joseph howe, cello, and mentor in bbf's fellowship artist initiative

Joseph Howe, cellist, has been regularly performing with Boulder Bach Festival since entering the organization’s fellowship program under the mentorship of baroque cellist Guy Fishman and Music Director Zachary Carrettin. Joseph’s passion for historically inspired performance has led to regular appearances with American Bach Soloists in San Francisco and a performance at the Smithsonian Beethoven Institute in Washington, D.C. Joseph holds titled positions with BBF's COmpass REsonance, Boulder Chamber Orchestra—with whom he recently appeared as concerto soloist, and Colorado Springs Philharmonic. He has also recently performed with Oregon Bach Festival, Colorado Symphony, and Opera Colorado. As a chamber musician, Joseph has recently performed with Front Range Chamber Players, Chintimini Chamber Music Festival in Oregon, and Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival in Northern California. Joseph cares deeply about music education, and he maintains a studio of young cellists.

Joseph Howe is a 2024/25 Mentor in BBF's Fellowship Artist Initiative. In this capacity he will coach strings fellows in lessons and sectionals, and will present education and outreach events across the region.
